WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Wade Henderson, president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, issued the following statement on President Obama’s recess appointments to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB):
“We commend President Obama for standing up for America’s workers by using his constitutional authority to bypass congressional obstruction of his highly qualified nominees to the National Labor Relations Board. The NLRB plays a critical role in protecting employee rights, including the right to bargain collectively, that have been and continue to be critical to building a strong middle class. Without today’s appointments, the NLRB’s ability to make critical decisions would have been eliminated.”
Wade Henderson is the president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, a coalition charged by its diverse membership of more than 200 national organizations to promote and protect the rights of all persons in the United States. The Leadership Conference works toward an America as good as its ideals. For more information on The Leadership Conference and its 200-plus member organizations, visit archives.civilrights.org.
